Former Seahawks WR Jermaine Kearse praises Pete Carroll’s leadership abilities

The importance of leadership in the NFL or in life cannot be understated. Guidance is essential to any level of success, whether on or off the field.

Ed Easton Jr. spoke with Jillian Crane, President and CEO of the First Responders Children’s Foundation, and former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse ahead of the Golf Classic’s inaugural fundraiser to honor local first responders in commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11.

“We’ve never hosted a golf tournament before, and this is the first First Responders Children’s Foundation Golf Classic. This was all made possible by Brian WeeksPLTgolf, and the Sabonic Golf Club in Southampton is offering to host the event,” Crane said of the fundraiser.[This is an] “Brian came to the organization and said I care about your mission. I like that you do scholarships for kids, that you have a mental health program, and that you are involved in the community.”

Kearse serves on the PLTgolf board of directors and is proud of his involvement in the inaugural event. He shared his appreciation for the leadership he received while playing under head coach Pete Carroll with the Seahawks.

“Our head coach, Pete Carroll, has done an absolutely terrific job of creating a culture,” Kearse said. “I think that’s one of the key things when you have teams that win Super Bowls or have success, and that’s what you’re seeing today at this event.”

Kearse played in two Super Bowls for the Seahawks under Carroll, including winning Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos. He brings his leadership and commitment to winning to ensure the success of the first golf fundraiser.

“We want to start today and plant a flag in the ground and say that everyone needs to think about the first responders at the Children’s Foundation when something happens in the country,” Crane said. “First responders, because we’re seeing it now: the fires in Chico, the shooting in Georgia, the hurricanes, the civil unrest, a lot of things that are happening in the country.”
